FLORENCE COUNTY, SC (WPDE) — The Florence County Council approved three resolutions for economic development on Thursday.

General Electric is planning to invest $40 million and create about 100 new full time jobs.

Patheon API wants to develop a manufacturing facility in the county, making an investment of about $70.4 million which would bring about 93 new jobs.

For each job they create for a Florence County resident the county will give them a $2,000 grant when the employee has been there five years.

East Coast Erosion Blankets plans to invest $1.25 million, creating 11 new jobs.

"We're offering better more employment for our citizens more opportunities. We have the transportation, we have the workforce, we have all the infrastructure," Kent Caudle, the Florence County Council Chairman, said.

The council also introduced a budget for $57.8 million for fiscal year 2017, which is up from last fiscal year's $56.5 million dollar budget.
